To become a professional in Fashion Promotion and in any other industry, certain areas should be considered and followed.
A professional must be positive, both in their mind-set and in their work so they can express their passion and contribution towards their work. To be level-headed and strong minded is key in industry with the ability to take criticism well from others in order to know what to do/not to do in future reference, thereby improves continuously. As Winston Churchill quoted: "Criticism may not be agreeable, but it is necessary. It fulfils the same function as pain in the human body. It calls attention to an unhealthy state of things." Regardless of where you work or who you work for; being able to take criticism is significant in industry. Having a perspective on criticism and an understanding of using it effectively is essential.
An individual who has an open attitude and is self-motivated will stand out. Those who have good communication skills, including correct grammars skills and proper spoken language, who is confident and well presented will be noticeable within industry. Confidence overall is knowing what your good at, the value you provide and acting in a way that conveys that to others. With confidence, it leads to good communication and the ability to talk to clients, colleagues or employees (for example) may have a big impact on future goals.
Time keeping is a very important attribute to become a professional. Clients will pick up on those who cannot keep up with time, is late for meetings or deadlines and is overall disorganised. This could be crucial with any project or work assignment as it could damage the company's reputation and/or work.
Qualifications are not a crucial aspect: GCSE's, A-Levels, BTEC's, Degrees and so forth. Although these basic qualifications may be necessary, they are mostly for experience. What is crucial is industry experience and inside knowledge/understanding. By getting yourself out and noticed, industry placement's or just a part-time job in any business, whether it be fashion retail or bar work, all experience will contribute to the development of skills and training altogether.
The fashion industry overall is very demanding, fast-growing and is constantly changing. These attitudes, attributes, skills and qualifications, as well as your fundamental drive will make you noticeable.
